HEVC Advance announces the addition of Sky plc and its affiliates as Licensees to the HEVC Advance Licensing Program

BOSTON – (September 8, 2016) – HEVC Advance, an independent licensing administrator, today announced that Sky (UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy) has become a licensee of the HEVC Advance HEVC/H.265 Patent Pool. As a licensee, Sky gains access to years of research and development from the world’s leading technology companies and institutes through a large portfolio of valuable patents essential to implementing the HEVC/H.265 video compression standard.

HEVC/H.265 offers the next generation video compression features needed to meet consumers’ immediate and rapidly growing demand for ultra-high-definition video delivered seamlessly to screens ranging from the largest monitors to the smallest smart phones with significantly higher compression efficiency.
